We encourage our clients to maintain the condition of their original frames, because a painting in its original frame is more valuable. Very often the cost of the commissioned frame was higher than the cost of a painting itself.

The most common causes of frame damage are: unprofessional repair, reckless handling, painting or spraying over the gold leaf, and environmental conditions.

We have extensive experience in all aspects of picture frame restoration which includes: structural stabilization; cleaning and paint removal; carving, casting and replacement of missing ornaments; gilding; toning; antiquing; and matching appropriate patinas.
